HVAC parts

Compatibility the way a tech would build it.

A fit check built for HVAC technicians, contractors, and shop owners. Equipment model, filter size, motor spec, ignitor type — methodical, reliable, and exactly as technical as the job demands.

The HVAC parts problem

HVAC shoppers leave when the product page can't answer one question.

A shopper pulling up a furnace filter or a blower motor on a Shopify storefront is almost never guessing. They know their unit. They know the size. They know the brand. What they don't know — and what most product pages can't tell them — is whether the part on the page actually fits what they're working on.

Incident log · Storefront failures 3 recurring

Filter listings don't say what they fit

A 20×25×1 MERV 11 pleated filter might serve a dozen furnace brands across two decades of equipment. Listed by dimension alone, the shopper is guessing whether it fits their specific Carrier, Lennox, Trane, or Rheem unit. Most don't guess — they leave to check a brand-name parts site.

Fault Missing equipment compatibility on product page
Impact Abandoned carts · Lost sessions

OEM part numbers lock out non-specialists

A blower motor or ignitor listed by manufacturer part number (HH18HA452, 767A-338, 903429) assumes the shopper already knows the number. For homeowners doing DIY repairs and newer techs servicing unfamiliar equipment, that assumption breaks the page — and the sale.

Fault Part number required, no model-based lookup
Impact Support tickets · Order returns

Wrong parts installed before the tech catches it

An HVAC return isn't just a return. A wrong ignitor installed on a call-back costs the contractor diagnostic time, a second truck roll, and a customer who now questions the shop's reliability. The cost of one wrong-fit order compounds through the service chain.

Fault Fit not verified before checkout
Impact Callbacks · Damaged reputation
Service procedure

Three stages from upload to closed work order.

ModelMatch installs in a morning and carries your existing compatibility data through to the shopper-facing surfaces where it changes buying behavior. Each stage is independent, auditable, and documented.

01
DATA-IN

Load compatibility data

Upload a CSV of part-to-equipment mappings, import from your Shopify catalog, or enter records directly through the admin. ModelMatch accepts OEM part numbers, cross-references, model numbers, and category taxonomies without needing to restructure the source data.

Outcome Searchable compatibility database
02
SURFACE

Surface the data where it matters

The fit check lives on every product page. A standalone finder serves multi-part service jobs. A catalog fit check narrows category pages to the parts that fit the shopper's specific furnace, condenser, or air handler. Each surface is gated by plan — Starter ships the product-page fit check and catalog fit check, Growth and Professional unlock the standalone finder.

Outcome Shopper-facing compatibility checks
03
VERIFY

Verify, log, improve

Every fit check event is logged. Shoppers who confirm fit return less and buy more. Search events without matches surface as a prioritized list of data gaps — so your coverage expands in the order that actually drives revenue, not the order you happen to think of.

Outcome Fewer returns · Compounding coverage
The toolkit

Three tools on the truck. Three jobs they do.

ModelMatch ships with three shopper-facing surfaces — a product-page fit check, a standalone finder, and a catalog fit check. Each does one job and does it well, the way a tech expects a purpose-built tool to behave.

Product-page fit check

Shoppers enter their unit model on the product page and get an immediate yes/maybe/no answer. The widget hides automatically on products without compatibility data — so your storefront never surfaces a half-built tool to a shopper making a buying decision.

A dedicated finder page where a tech or contractor enters their equipment model once and browses every compatible part across your catalog. Made for multi-part service calls — filter, belt, capacitor, ignitor, all in one visit, all from one search.

Drop a compatibility prompt onto any collection page — filters, motors, ignitors, whatever category you sell. Shoppers narrow a 300-product category down to the subset that fits their specific unit, without leaving the collection page.

HVAC merchant questions

Answers for the catalogs that need this most.

Does ModelMatch work with air filters, blower motors, and ignitors — or just one type of part?
ModelMatch is category-agnostic within your catalog. Filters, blower motors, ignitors, capacitors, thermostats, UV lamps, control boards, limit switches — any part that has a compatibility relationship to a specific unit model can be mapped. You define the categories.
How do I get my compatibility data into ModelMatch?
Three ways: upload a CSV of part-to-model mappings, enter records manually through the admin, or import directly from your Shopify products on Growth and Professional plans. If your supplier provides a cross-reference list, that usually imports in minutes.
What happens when a shopper's model isn't in our compatibility data?
The fit check returns an honest 'we're not sure' state rather than a false positive. You can also see which models shoppers search for but don't find — turning no-match events into a prioritized list of data to add.
Does this slow down my storefront?
No. The fit check block loads asynchronously after the product page renders, so Largest Contentful Paint and Core Web Vitals are unaffected. Lookups hit a purpose-built API that typically responds in under 200ms.
Can I hide the fit check on products that don't have compatibility data yet?
Yes, automatically. The block hides itself on any product with no ModelMatch records, so your storefront never shows an empty or broken widget while you're still building out coverage.
What does this cost?
ModelMatch starts at $19/month on the Starter plan, with Growth at $39/month and Professional at $79/month. All plans include the product-page fit check and AI-assisted mapping (100/month on Starter, 500/month on Growth, 2000/month on Professional); Growth and Professional unlock the standalone finder and larger catalog capacity.
