Power equipment parts

The fit check for the small engines that run everything outside.

Mowers. Chainsaws. Generators. Snowblowers. Trimmers. Pressure washers. A Shopify compatibility app that maps parts to the engine family and the equipment model — because every small engine shopper already knows the answer lives in both places.

The compatibility gap

Small engines have two compatibility answers.

Every replacement part on a mower, chainsaw, generator, or snowblower lives at the intersection of two things — the equipment it's bolted to and the engine powering it. A fit check that only knows one of those is guessing on the other.

01 ERR · EQ-ONLY
Common

Equipment-only lookups miss the engine

A buyer searches "Cub Cadet XT1" and lands on a blade. But the same chassis sells with three different deck sizes and two engine families across the model year. Without engine-level compatibility, the fit check says yes when it should say "which deck do you have?" — and returns come back with the part still in the box.

Impact Wrong-size blade on arrival
02 ERR · ENG-ONLY
Common

Engine-only lookups miss the install

A Kohler CH740 powers Exmark zero-turns, Ferris mowers, Toro Z Masters, and a dozen other brands. A carburetor mapped to "Kohler CH740" is technically correct — and completely wrong if the shopper's install needs the Exmark-specific fuel line routing or the Toro-specific throttle linkage. Engine-level data alone breaks on installation detail.

03 ERR · SEASONAL
Peak impact

Seasonal downtime makes wrong parts expensive

Power equipment parts sell in sharp seasonal waves — blades and belts in spring, snowblower shear pins and augers in fall. Equipment is actively down during those windows. A wrong-part order doesn't just lose the sale, it loses the weekend job, the commercial contract, or the storm cleanup — and the customer doesn't come back next year.

Example First-snow weekend · Bad shear pin
Impact Lost job · Lost loyalty

Three phases to close the fit gap.

ModelMatch installs into the Shopify admin in an afternoon, accepts the compatibility data you already have, and deploys the shopper-facing surfaces that turn that data into closed sales. Documented, auditable, reversible.

Rev. 2026.04
Phase 01

Ingest compatibility data

SP · 010-A

Import part-to-equipment and part-to-engine records via CSV, direct Shopify product import, or manual entry. ModelMatch supports the many-to-many compatibility structure that small-engine catalogs actually have — one part can map to dozens of equipment models across multiple engine families, without duplicating SKUs.

Output Queryable compatibility database
Phase 02

Deploy shopper-facing surfaces

SP · 010-B

The fit check activates on every product page that has compatibility data. The standalone finder (Growth and Professional plans) gives multi-part shoppers a dedicated equipment-first browse surface. The catalog fit check narrows category pages by the specific equipment a shopper is servicing. Each surface is independently toggleable.

Output Live fit check on storefront
Phase 03

Monitor, audit, expand coverage

SP · 010-C

Every fit check query is logged. Match events carry through to checkout as verified buyer intent. No-match events surface as a prioritized list of data gaps — so your coverage expands in the order that actually drives revenue, not alphabetically. Admin dashboards show exactly what shoppers are searching for, which searches convert, and where the compatibility database has blind spots.

Three working components in the ModelMatch toolkit.

Every ModelMatch install ships three shopper-facing surfaces, configured per plan. Each surface is documented, individually toggleable, and built to sit inside your existing Shopify theme without modification.

Power equipment merchant questions

Answers for catalogs built on cross-references.

Can ModelMatch handle engine-based compatibility as well as equipment-based?
Yes. You can map parts to equipment models (Husqvarna Z254), engine models (Kohler KT740), or both. Shoppers can search either one and the fit check resolves correctly.
Does this work for two-cycle handheld equipment like chainsaws and trimmers?
Yes. Compatibility is category-agnostic. Map chainsaw bars to Stihl and Husqvarna models, map trimmer heads to the specific gearbox families they fit, map air filters to carburetor models. The structure bends to your catalog.
What about seasonal demand spikes — can ModelMatch handle the traffic?
Yes. Lookups run through a purpose-built API that scales with your storefront. Spring blade season, fall snowblower prep, and mid-season breakdowns all perform the same.
How do I handle parts that fit an entire engine family?
Map the part once against the engine family, and every equipment model using that engine automatically resolves to a match. You don't have to map the same spark plug to 200 individual mower SKUs.
Can I import from OEM parts diagrams or supplier cross-references?
Yes. Any cross-reference you can get into a CSV can be imported. Import preview shows what'll be added before it touches your live catalog.
What does this cost?
ModelMatch starts at $19/month on the Starter plan, with Growth at $39/month and Professional at $79/month. Most power equipment merchants fit Growth or Professional because of catalog breadth across engine and equipment families.
